Dr. Michael Hilgner has engaged himself in communication infrastructure and high-frequency components design in diverse roles throughout his career. After his diploma in electrical engineering with a focus on communications in 1997 and his Ph.D. in the field of numerical calculation of electromagnetic fields at the Technical University of Darmstadt in 2000, he led the development of a high-frequency simulation and signal integrity analysis software at the company CST in Darmstadt. In 2008, he joined NOKIA where he worked as a specialist for Electromagnetic Compatibility in the development of mobile devices at the location in Ulm. From 2010 to 2015, at the VDE in Frankfurt, he was responsible for the technical management of standards in various areas and also represented the German National Committee in steering groups and strategy committees of the IEC and CENELEC. Since 2015, in his current role as Manager Consortia & Standards, Michael is coordinating the engagements in consortia and standardization of TE Connectivity’s Industrial Business Unit and providing his experience to international standardization activities and industrial user groups in the areas of industrial networks, cabling systems and components thereof. Michael is married and a father of two teenage children. He spends his free time with family activities, sports and reading.
